Your Love has Created Another Honu World

As this card shows, there is always room for improvement.  The first honu card (posted earlier today) had a bit too much white space around the sentiment.  I enjoy created three-paneled cards with sentiment and image applied atop the panels.  I reduced the white space around the sentiment and here is the result.

Your Love has Created a Honu World

I am crazy about honu (sea turtles), so naturally I decided to add honu to my card creations.  I found this wonderful "Your Love has Created a Honu World" by Rubber Stamp Plantation and combined it with pretty papers and honu images to make a new design.

The design is simple and basic, but most of my cards are. Complex cards are challenging and beautiful, but I find satisfaction in simplicity as well.  My simple honu card is crisp and clean and the message is not lost in a mass of design.

Humpback Whale Card Completion

Yesterday, I posted a shot of the humpback whale card I was working on, and later that day, I completed it!

Here is the result:

Along the edges of the cardstock used for the whale and Aloha stamps, I used the Victorian blade of my new Paper Trimming Buddy that my awesome boyfriend gave me for Christmas this year.  I love the wave affect from Victorian as opposed to the Scallop blade for this purpose.

On the whale image itself, I applied Glossy Accents Clear Dimensional Embellishment. It applies wet and dries as a sort of clear plastic/rubber over the image -- creating a nice glass or watery effect on the image.

Overall, I am proud of this card!

The current Whale Season around the Hawaiian Isles began around November 2012, and while the appearance of my favorite sea creatures has been a bit slow this season, it was so exciting to see my first blow spot of the season recently.

Today, as Anthony and I drove into Lahaina as part of our anniversary celebration, blow spouts in the sea were shooting into the air.  I squealed with delight like a 6 year-old child.  My gigantic friends are back and are enjoying themselves in our waters!

I figured it is time to pull out one of my favorite rubber stamps -- a humpback whale stamp from Honolulu's Rubber Stamp Plantation.  http://www.rubberstampplantation.com/

Here is the start of a fun new project:

Punches!

Punches are a great tool to add zazz to your cards!  I like to save the punched pieces and use them as embellishments on the cards I make.  These dragonflies will add a nice touch to my next card.

The completed Love Birds Project

Well, I scrapped the work in progress because I was not happy with my results.  I started over, and here is what I came up with.

Work in Progress

I am not entirely sure where I am going with this.  It's a little work in progress today.
